Without the capacity for consent, animal testing is more than just "basic science"; it's absolutely essential.
Why is this significant for people with Down syndrome?
It is well known within the scientific community that Down syndrome is a complex immune disorder that relies on mouse models for pre-clinical research to understand this unique genome. On June 29, 2020, John Hopkins Medicine announced the newest mouse model for Down syndrome which contains 93% of HSA21q PCGs that are expressed and is the most complete cytogenic mouse model for Down Syndrome to date. This highly accurate mouse model for DS was not used to test the safety of COVID19 vaccines.
Down syndrome is a documented immune system disorder that is not well understood by the scientific community. Without animal trials, there is no risk-benefit data to determine the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines for this high-risk population.
Adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines reported to VAERS like myocarditis and autoimmunity are innate to Trisomy21 and could easily be attributed to the diagnosis.

Doctors tell us that there is no contraindication for children with DS to receive a COVID-19 injection, but this advice is based on a lack of data, not on the established science.

We should value people at least as much as animals
